To put it simply, eCommerce is the buying and selling of goods and services online. This can be done either through a website or an app. Nowadays, almost anything can be bought and sold online; from clothes to food, to books and furniture. And with the advent of mobile commerce, we’re seeing even more people shopping on their smartphones and tablets.


Of course, setting up an eCommerce business is not as simple as just putting up a website or app. There’s a lot of planning, design, development, marketing, and customer service involved. Says Duarte, “If you’re up for the challenge, it can be a very rewarding experience – both personally and financially.”


It takes a certain type of person to be an eCommerce entrepreneur. You need to be someone who is comfortable with taking risks, who is willing to put in the hard work, and who has a vision for what they want to achieve.


You also need to be comfortable with technology, as eCommerce is a very tech-heavy industry. You need to be able to navigate your way around various platforms and understand how to optimize your website for search engines.


And last but not least, you need to be passionate about what you’re selling. “If you’re not passionate about your product or service, it’s going to be very difficult to convince others to buy from you,” adds Duarte.
